always ring and get help from us, so experiment with your Amiga!
Check out also our special THEME PACKS, ie, collections of disks on
special topics - see the file in this drawer.
Thanks particularly to Daniel Rutter for checking out most of these disks,
and to those who sent in disks for addition to the PD collection.

we can keep the collection the best and easiest to use.

GAMES DISKS
GA 207 A,B
Howzat! demo (2 disks, 1mb)
Demo version of a great cricket game. Can even be installed
on to a hard drive! Seems to be easy to use (though this demo can
not be played?) with great graphics and sound. Bootable or from
workbench to install onto a hard drive. Thanks to Jason Chan.
GA 208
Commercial Game Demos #1
3 playable demos of commercial games. BC Kid (a prehistoric
platform romp similar to Chuck Rock), Bill's Tomato (Psygnosis new
odd game, where you need to used fans and trampolines to get the
tomato from one side of the screen to the other, sounds boring?
sounds easy? try it out then) and Nigel Mansell's World Cup (an
arcade formula one grand prix game). Bootable. Thanks to Jason
Chan for this one.
GA 209
Lemmings 2 - The Tribes
Playable demo of this fabulous sequel to one of the most
addictive and fun games ever to appear. Thanks to Paul Lawrie for
sending this one in.
GA 210
Pinball Fantasies Demo
A playable demo of THE ultimate pinball machine simulator. The
full game only has 4 tables but they are HUGE with 3 flippers plus
heaps of ramps etc for the ball to follow. Thanks again to Paul
Lawrie for this one.
GA 211
Titanic Cheats V1.24
Paul Lawrie's hints and tips disk contains heaps of cheats for
hundreds of games. If your stuck on a game then try this out, you
might find that hidden clue that you are after.
GA 212
Fruit Panic
A great PD game (even the kids will love it) which is basically a
platform pacman. The ghosts and paccy run along platforms with paccy
collecting the fruit and the ghosts trying to stop him. Fortunately
paccy has some bombs at his disposal to slow them down a little.
Pac-Thanks go to Karl Veit for this one. Doesn't like WB2.0. Bootable.
GA 213
Sokoban Puzzle
A great version of the classic game: Sokoban. A puzzle game where
you need to push objects to a target area using the least number of
moves.
GA 214 A,B
Talisman (2 disk set)
This is an incredible graphics/text advetnure game that is easy to
play (no more trying to remember the command words). Great graphics and
ease of use (all button controlled) make this a great bargain. Requires
a minimm of 2MB ram to run. Great adventure thanks to Jason New for this
one.
GA 215
Playable Demos
Turbo Terminator - A blisteringly fast and smooth formula one
bike racing game.
Woody's World - A platform romp involving Woody (a kid wizard)
collecting the coins and squashing the baddies. Thanks to Jason
New for this one.
GA 216
Roach Motel
A decent game written in AMOS. A platform game where you must
avoid the roaches and collect the bug spray. Thanks to Jason New
for this one.

GRAPHICS DISKS
GR 181 A & B
PERSISTENCE OF VISION RAY TRACER V1.0.u
This is a wonderful script based ray tracing program which is
access via the CLI/Shell. This version includes a special version for
A4000 users which is 10% faster than the floating point version and
also supports the new AGA display modes. No special requirements
needed for this package. All files are archived using LhA (included in
the c directory of both disks). Not recommended for beginners
since the script files are similar to a program listing and the
whole package has been archived.
GR 182
Digital Illusions V1.0 Alpha
An incredible image processor rather like the commercial ADPro (the
interface is even modelled after ADPro's). This version doesn't support
AGA modes (version 2 does though) and is a shareware program. Has some
great and powerful features and has to be one of the best programs of
it's type in the public domain. Some features include metamorphose,
emboss and stars (you know, the twinkle you get on shiny surfaces).
Even supports dithering. There is also animation facilities. Requires
an ABSOLUTE MINIMUM of 1MB with a minimum of 2MB recommended to be able
to fully use this program. A great (and colourful) thanks to Jason New
for sending in this one.
GR 183
ViewTek V1.04.38 and MakeAnim7
ViewTek is about the best picture/animation viewer available. It
will load any picture (including JPEG and 24bit) and it will be display
at the maximum resolution of your system (so most users will end up will
HAM while A1200 and A4000 users can have HAM8). It will even play new
AGA animations in both ANIM-5 or ANIM-7 formats. MakeAnim7 is a utility
to turn your ANIM-5 animations into ANIM-7 format. The advantage with
ANIM-7 is that it is on average around 2-3 times faster on playback (so
an animation playing at only 20 frames per second may end up at around
40 frames per second). This can give far smoother looking animations.
Also included are some JPEG pics and a small animation (the animation
only seems to load under WB3). The pics load fine under WB2. This disk
is not bootable but is fully iconned and requires a minimum of WB2 to
run. Compiled by Steve Bolton.

MISCELLANEOUS DISKS
MISC 10D UPDATE
FISHLIST
This disk, thrown together by me, Daniel Rutter, contains an enormous
PowerPacked text file of the contents files from every Fish disk from 1 to
750, in numerical order.
I recommend you unpack it and put it on your hard disk, and use a fast
text editor like CEDPro to search through the 1.2 megabytes of uncompressed
ASCII. It CAN be used from floppy with the help of PP, the PowerPacker
Patcher, but you'll need a couple of megabytes of RAM. I find this
textfile a much simpler way of finding stuff than Aquarium. It's not
bootable and the list is iconned to display with Fullview but I DON'T
recommend using Fullview's slow search function to find anything! [Ed: I
use TxEd, MicroSmith's old text editor, which works fine.]
MISC 10E ** Added Apr '93 **
KINGFISHER_HD (Fish 1 - 840)
Ken Simpson has put this disk together for us - it has all the listings
up to Fish 840 using the amazing new Fish database program, Kingfisher, which
is said to be faster and less buggy than Aquarium, though I'm sure others
will disagree. Whatever the case, this is a neat fast way of finding what
you want on the Fish disks, and requires 1.4 meg of space on your hard
drive. you can have s everal search strings and
"bookmarks" in the database and switch between them with ease
This all fits on a floppy due to Ken's use of Chas Wyndham's P-Compress
program which is one of the most effective compressors around.
MISC 10F ** Added Apr '93 **
KINGFISHER_FLOPPY (Fish 1 - 840)
Ken Simpson has put this disk together for us - it has all the listings
up to Fish 840 using the amazing new Fish database program, Kingfisher.
This version requires 1.4 meg of space in memory in one piece. This all fits
on a floppy due to Ken's use of Chas Wyndham's P-Compress
program.
MISC 118H
JamDisk 8
Arq - replaces the standard amiga requesters with better
"feeling" requesters.
BioII - is a biorythmn plotter. Plots your physical, emotional
and intellectual biorythmns and the resultant curve can be
saved as an IFF ILBM file.
DiskFixers - Contains DiskRepair V2.4. A very good disk repairer
and file recoverer. Works with hard drives and different file
systems.
FrqLib - V3.02 of the file requester library complete with lots of
useful documentation.
MightyMouse - a feature packed mouse utility with a configuration
program. Features include blanking and auto window
activate, etc.
PrinterDrivers - the five printer drivers on this issue are
HP_DeskJet500.1, HP_DeskJet500.2, HP_DeskJet500C, HP_500C
SeikoshaPlus.
SnoopDos - V1.4 of this very useful utility. It brings up a window
on the workbench screen with a list of any actions you perform
and what the system does with them. For example if you attempt
to load a program from its icon and it doesn't load then in
the SnoopDos window it will show you what files the program
was looking for and whether it succeeded or failed in loaded
them, thus allowing you to track down the problem.
MISC 118I
JamDisk 9
AmiDock - AmiDock V1.3 will provide you with a number of buttons
on the WorkBench screen that when presed will launch other
programs. These buttons are fully configurable to run any
program you want with a single press.
DirWork - V1.62 of this highly configurable and handy directory
utility program. Similar to DOpus, SID and DiskMaster. Can
easily with just about everything you can do in a CLI window
but by using buttons things become easy (especially for those
who find the CLI a little difficult). Very good documentation
supplied with it.
FPU-MathTrans - A replacement for the MathTrans.library for people
who have an '881, '882 or '040 equipped amiga. It patches the
normal FFP that programs access to use highly optimised
versions for the math coprocessor (good for those maths
intensive programs like Distant Suns that don't come with a
version for accelerators). V1.1.
IconTools -
ReplaceTool V2.04 - Allows you to change the default tool of any
number of icons at once.
FloatIcon V1.05 - Lets you make an icon free floating again
after it has been snapshot thus leaving it to DOS to place it
in the window. Useful for JazzBench which will place the icons
neater then what DOS does.
SwapColors V1.01 - Swaps colours 1 and 2 so that 1.3 icons will
look fine under 2.0 and vice versa.
ReplaceImage V1.01 - Changes any number of icons to the same
image as the first one clicked. Useful for changing 1.3 style
directory icons to the newer 2.0 look.
MultiDos - A system patch program rather like CrossDos or MessyDos
which allows you to read from and write to IBM formatted disks
on your amiga. Note you can't RUN IBM software with these type
of programs but you can load pictures into a conversion
program or load text files into your word processor.
PrinterDrivers - the three printer drivers on this issue are
CanonLBP, Diconix300 and the StarLC1-_120x144dpi.
VD0-3000 - The ASDG recoverable RAM disk patched such that it will
operate on an Amiga 3000.
MISC 118J
JamDisk 10
LhA - V1.32 of this wonderfully fast and efficient file archiver.
NComm - V2.0 of this versatile terminal program for modem users.
Comes as a self-extracting archive with detailed docs on how
to unpack it.
ToolManager - A program that allows you to add items to your Tools
menu under Kickstart V2 or later.
TwinExpress - Twin Express V1.1 is a file transfer program that
allows a user to quickly transfer files between two computers
via a cable connected to their serial ports.
MISC 164
LOTTO SELECTOR
A great feature packed lotto selector which can bbe used to create
a database of previous lotto results and will give you the odds on
your choice of numbers coming up. Heaps of other items. A must
for lotto punters! Thanks to Frank Hernandez for this one.
MISC 165 (A, B, C, D, E)
NUMMUS (5 disks)
This is a wonderful "fictional science" novel which unpacks to
a hard drive filling 6.5MB. Below is a quote from the readme file
on disk one:
" `Nummus' looks at these `modern' questions of consciousness
and intelligence, and in doing so revisits those old ones of `what
is reality', `what can we really know about it', and `what is
`knowing' anyway'. It does this in a completely different way
from the traditional, by tracing the course of evolution on the
fictional world of Nummus from simple inert elements to something
resembling consciousness. You could perhaps think of Nummus as a
work of `fictional science' in that, unlike science fiction, the
artificial science predominates over the storyline.
With over 50,000 words and 500 drawings, this computer
readable version of Nummus extends over 461 screen pages. These
are selected using a simple `pageturner' program that I hope
simulates the useful characteristics of a physical book without
the inconvenient.
Ivan Millett "
MISC 166
KV Downloads
This disk includes various items such as joke files, TwinXpress (a
serial port networking program), NetWork news, KeyMapEd and some black
& white pictures of Madonna (adult rated, don't look in this directory
if you are offended, not as explicit as most adult slideshows that are
available). More thanks to Karl Veit.
MISC 167
KV Downloads
Various items including network postings about the A4000 and A500
Tower. Also included is BootX V4.02, XCopyPro8, 2 music modules and
two adult pictures (one cartoon and a very adult digitsed pic). Thanks
to Karl Veit.
MISC 168
SASC6 - 6.2 Upgrade
This disk contains 2 archives. First is SASCLib and the
second is a patch to upgrade the SAS-C system to V6.2. There are
no icons but archiving programs (Lz & LhA) are included for you to
dearchive these upgrades. Documentation includes a full list of
all improvements (and there seem to be HEAPS of them).
MISC 169
QuarterBack V5.00 to V5.04 Upgrades
This disk contains 4 directories which contains various
upgrades to get your QBack V5.00 up to V5.04. No documentation on
what improvements this upgrade will provide but upgrade scripts
